Treatment for TMJ

Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction can be the source of a number of disorders, including chronic headaches and face and jaw pain.  Incorrect bite, clenching of the teeth or any excessive pressure on the jaw joints can cause the muscle spasms associated with TMJ.

Using a tomograph, our office will first take a series of specialized diagnostic x-rays of the temporomandibular joints and the surrounding area.   Using computerized digital sonography, we can observe important diagnostic information regarding the pathophysiology and progression of an internal derangement of the temporomandibular joint.  A computerized linear readout of joint sounds reveals and/or confirms joint disorder.  Tomography and sonography are utilized to determine the severity and the extent of the disease.
